LSI Logic's SDMS Software Device Drivers and Utilities CD-ROM Release 4.6

This CD-ROM provides information about and software for the PCI SCSI
Device Management System (SDMS). Additionally, it offers Symbios product
information.

Browsing this CD-ROM is best accomplished with a browser such as 
Microsoft Internet Explorer v3.0 or later, or Netscape 2.0 or later.
To utilize the full functionality of the CD-ROM, Microsoft Internet Explorer
is recommended. Netscape will work, but links that launch applications 
are disabled in Netscape.

This product has not been tested on other browsers. If you don't have a 
browser on your system we have provided Microsoft Internet Explorer 
(IE3.0) for your convenience.
 
NOTE:  At present, this CD-ROM cannot be browsed using the SCO UnixWare 
operating system.

If you have a browser installed, run GUIDE.HTM at the root of the disk.

To create LSI Logic's Symbios installation floppy diskette set for a 
specific operating system, choose one of the three alternatives:

o If using a browser, launch the SDMS Software Device Drivers and
  Utilities CD-ROM. Select Installation Instructions from the
  menu bar across the top of the page and follow the directions.

o If not using a browser, go to the DISKIMAG directory to run the
  executable (.EXE) for a specific operating system.

o If not using a browser, locate the specific operating system under
  the DRIVERS or UTILITY directory. Read all text (.TXT) files for  
  installation instructions.

SDMS 4.0 User's Guide, Version 10.0

The PCI SCSI Device Management System SDMS 4.0 User's Guide explains 
how to install and configure the Symbios SDMS Software Drivers
and Utilities. It is organized into chapters by individual operating
systems.  

Installation Instructions for Specific Operating Systems

This area contains the device drivers documentation for various operating
systems. The documentation lists procedures for installing drivers into a 
new system or existing system installation. 
 
Utility Installations and Information

This area contains utility instructions that work in conjunction with
various operating systems. 

o Host Adapter Flash Utility updates the Symbios PCI SCSI BIOS 
  on a host adapter.   

o SCSI BIOS Configuration Utility assists in changing adapter
  configurations as needed for specific systems.  

o Multilanguage Configuration Utility assists in changing adapter
  configurations as needed for specific systems. This is a stand-
  alone configuration utility that provides ten language options. 

o SDMS DOS Utilties:

  SDMS SCSI Low-level Format Utility allows low-level formatting of
  SCSI hard disk drives.  

  SDMS DOS Verify Utility checks various hardware and software
  components.  

  SDMS DOS Configuration Utility allows configuration of any DOS-based
  drivers.  

o NT Configuration Utility provides a mechanism used by
  Windows NT 4.0 to change selected configuration parameters of
  SCSI host adapters.

o NT Workstation DV Service Module is a companion product to 
  the NT Configuration Utility. This utility monitors I/O
  activity on Domain Validation enabled host adapters and alerts
  the user when the number of errors during a polling cycle
  occur.

o NT ASPI for Windows NT 4.0 provides a mechanism used by Windows 
  applications as an interface to access SCSI adapters and peripherals.
  
o SCSI Tools for Windows 95/98 and Windows NT provides a
  mechanism for examining host adapters and SCSI devices in these
  Windows environments.

o Web Based Management Browser is a Desktop Management Interface (DMI)
  compliant Management Application for LSI mass storage elements. This
  tool allows the user to view storage components connected to their
  computer, such as device drivers, SCSI host adapter boards, and
  peripheral devices.
